1. Last week ended on the most optimistic note ever (since elections). Both PNU and ODM showed significance softening of their positions and for the first time, seemed to be negotiating with the future of our country at heart.
2. Kalonzo Musyoka who is considred as a traitor - Kenya's Judas Iscariot made a low-key visit to London and Washington in an effor to shore support for the illegitimate Kibaki regime. His visit did not help as he was mostly snubbed by the two govts and he had to meet with low level officials. Everybody seems to know that the elections were rigged and the only plausible way out of the current situation is frank and sincere negotiations currently chaired by the now celebrated top world diplomat - Kofi Annan.
3. PNU (Kibaki govt) rejected the inclusion of Cyril Ramaphosa - a well known negotiator who helped several countries including South Africa and Northern Ireland. This was a major diplomatic goof for Kibaki as South Africa became the first country to state publicly that it does not recognize Kibaki and imposed visa bans to all govt officials.
4. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is now feeling the heat for rushing to get the vice presidency slot. As they say in Kenya - Tamaa Mbele Mauti Nyuma. Musyoka has now been rendred politically irrelevant and this might just mark the end of his political career and presidential ambitions. His running mate - Dr Julia Ojiambo and party secretary general - Daniel Maanzo have now taken him to court.
5. PNU's loose coalitions is starting to disntergrate with Ford-K threatening to pull out and the powerful Meru council of elders promising to take disciplinary actions against Kibaki and his wife - Lucy for beating Imanyara, a Meru member of parliament. The council of elders say that Lucy is abusing the statehouse and the Kenyan people.
6. Two opposition MP's were killed in what most people see as PNU (Mt Kenya mafia) sponsored assasination in order to reduce the ODM majority in parliament. Today, a vocal ODM MP and lawyer, James Orengo's house was raided - a move seen by many to be an attempt to eliminate him.
