Mediation team might revisit accord

The mediation talks might revisit agenda item number three which culminated in the signing of the National Reconciliation and Peace Accord by President Mwai Kibaki and prime minister designate Raila Odinga in February if deemed necessary.
This will however depend on whether or not the cabinet deadlock will be unlocked soon and the plight of IDPs addressed.
The announcement was made by the mediation team which resumed the talks Tuesday after a two week break.
Naming of a coalition cabinet is the first step towards the implementation of the deal which resulted from agenda item number three in the mediation talks negotiated by former UN boss Kofi Annan.
Delay in the formation of the coalition cabinet has raised concern from all quarters including the mediation team who were involved in negotiating the power sharing deal.
If the deadlock continues, the mediation team might be forced to revisit this agenda though according to ODM's Musalia Mudavadi, the accord is legal and beyond the team's mandate
The talks will resume Wednesday and will focus on agenda item number four which will see a committee formed to investigate the perpetrators of the post election violence and discussion on the long term historical issues that led to the skirmishes.
