Kitui Central MP, Mrs Charity Ngilu, has revived her turf war with Vice-President, Mr Kalonzo Musyoka.
On Sunday, she told the VP to brace himself for a bruising battle for political supremacy in Ukambani.
Ngilu also accused Kalonzo of abandoning his former allies from Ukambani after joining the Government."It is sad that the VP has confined to political oblivion individuals who propped him to be what he is today," said Ngilu.
Speaking to The Standard, Ngilu said Kalonzo had undermined politicians he perceived as threats to him in Ukambani.
"I have been a victim of his machinations. I survived the election due to the faith the electorate had in me," said Ngilu. In last year’s elections, Kalonzo campaigned against Ngilu and urged the electorate to teach her a lesson. But the MP braved the ODM-Kenya wave in Ukambani and retained her seat.
Ngilu and Kilome MP, Mr Harun Mwau, the leader of the Party of Independent Candidates of Kenya, are understood to be planning a political power axis in Ukambani to check Kalonzo’s influence.
Ngilu said Ukambani needed leaders who had the interest of the community at heart and not political self-seekers.
Meanwhile, the undercurrents in ODM-Kenya intensified with some MPs threatening to rebel against Kalonzo and instead back ODM in Parliament.
Mutito MP, Mr Kiema Kilonzo, and his Yatta counterpart, Mr Charles Kilonzo, said Kalonzo had betrayed them over a coalition deal, which he said did not involve all party MPs.
